What this role is about, in short

Let’s start with the essentials:

✅ Purpose: You’ll help organisations design, build, and develop Google Cloud environments that are secure, scalable, and usable in real business contexts.

This includes things like cloud architecture, migrations, infrastructure development, security, governance, and continuous improvement.

At its core, this role is about helping customers move from “we have cloud” → to → “our cloud actually works for us”.

✅ Location: Hybrid role in Finland. Work remotely or from our Helsinki HQ (Kalasatama). What matters is impact and ownership, not how much you visit the office.

✅ Growth: You can grow deeper into Google Cloud expertise, expand toward broader consulting and customer ownership, or contribute to how Gapps builds more scalable, productised cloud services.

✅ Team: You’ll work closely with other cloud experts, consultants, and customer teams. This is not a lone-wolf setup – you’ll have strong sparring support and shared ownership.

✅ Compensation: Salary range 48 000–72 000 € / year depending on your experience and seniority. (Senior profiles discussed individually.)

What you’d actually do

As a Google Cloud Consultant, you work at the intersection of infrastructure, architecture, and real-world usage. Your job is to make sure Google Cloud environments are not only technically sound but also usable, secure, and aligned with how the organisation works today.

Your work typically includes:

Designing and developing Google Cloud environments
Supporting migrations and building new cloud setups
Improving existing environments (security, cost, performance, governance)
Working with customers to understand needs and translate them into solutions
Collaborating with other experts to deliver working solutions, not just plans
Acting as a trusted expert who helps customers make clear decisions

You don’t need to be the deepest specialist in every situation, but you do need to understand the possibilities, limitations, and consequences well enough to co-create the right solution with the team.

What a typical week looks like

There’s no single “average day”, but most weeks include a mix of:

Customer meetings and workshops (remote and occasionally on-site)
Project work: architecture, implementation, development
Internal collaboration with project managers, solution engineers, and other consultants
Hands-on work such as documentation, onboarding materials, training content, or environment reviews
Problem-solving when reality doesn’t match the original plan (because it rarely does)

Some projects are intense and complex. Others are smaller and more contained. What stays consistent is the expectation that you take ownership of your part and communicate clearly when things change.

Who you’d work with

Internally, you’ll work closely with:

Project & Change Managers, who lead overall delivery and change tracks
Solution Architects & Engineers, who focus on the technical backbone and configurations
Other Google Cloud consultants with different backgrounds and strengths

On the customer side, your stakeholders typically include:

IT and internal project managers
Information security and legal
HR, internal communications, and business stakeholders
Steering groups in larger organisations

This role suits someone who’s comfortable working across functions and adjusting their communication style depending on who’s in the room.

How success is measured

Success in this role isn’t about rushing through tasks or ticking boxes. After the first 6–12 months, success looks like:

Customers trust you and give positive feedback on both expertise and reliability
Projects move forward smoothly, and issues are surfaced early, not hidden
You contribute to better ways of working – not just delivering, but improving how we deliver
You’ve grown your own understanding of Google Cloud environments, risks, and best practices in real customer contexts
